What makes the collar leash safe? We include two d-rings on this collar, one on each side of the buckle. By attaching your leash to BOTH d-rings your leash will hold the collar together making it not break open when walking you dog.
Why does a dog need a breakaway collar? There has been many horror stories of injuries and even death of dogs from their collars being caught on something or another dog. It's very dangerous to leave your dog unattended with a regular collar on and with a breakaway collar you can have peace of mind when leaving your dog unattended because when force is applied the buckle is designed to pop open for safety.
All our collars are made with 100% cotton fabric that is pre-washed and dried prior to construction. We include on the inside of our collars polypropylene webbing to ensure they hold up to your tough pup! We stitch our collars with 100% cotton quilting thread and stitch up to TEN times at all stress points. (This is why our stitching often times looks thicker than compared to others.)
Washing your collar: I personally toss my collar in the washer on cold and lay it flat to dry or hang outside on a nice day! If your collar seems wrinkled you can very carefully and quickly go over it with an iron on a low-medium setting (being very careful to avoid the hardware, especially if it's plastic!). This is to be done carefully as you don't want to melt the interior webbing! You can also hand wash your collars and dry as specified above.
